On Wednesday, I dropped Emma off at the sitters and headed to Boulder for a PR event for the North Face. I haven’t been to a media event in over 3.5 years. It was strange at first to be back. As soon as I saw some familiar faces, I felt more comfortable. I guess it’s kind of like riding a bike. You don’t forget how to do it, but you might be a bit shaky at the start!
We started the day with a hike up Mt. Sanitas followed by an amazing lunch at the TNF Design Center in Boulder.
While we enjoyed a delicious salad, entree and dessert from Blackbelly Market, we got a glimpse of new product. I’m really excited about their Homestead Collection- technical gear that is easy to use, set up and take care of. I think it really resonates with the parent market looking to make an outdoor experience as easy as possible with kids in tow.
We received a generous gift take home gift of a North Face Campforter sleeping bag. It’s a roomy 20 degree down bag that allows for sleeping more naturally like you would in a bed. The best part about it is that Emma and I can both fit into this bag. Emma’s Minnie Mouse sleeping bag just won’t cut it warmth wise, so this is the perfect solution. Here we are trying out the bag in the backyard!
It was great to see some old writing and PR friends at the event. It got my creative juices flowing and excited to send off new pitches. Many thanks to the TNF crew and Inside Out PR for a great day.
I’m loving the extra daylight and cooler temps in the evenings. We have taken advantage of it by taking Emma to ride some of the local trails on the Erie Singletrack and to Valmont Bike Park in Boulder. This week starts the short track races at Valmont. I think our Wednesday night staple will be having Emma race, me getting in some dirt time and then watching AJ race with dinner afterward. Hopefully the weather cooperates.
The cooler temps and rain have also helped my garden flourish. Emma helped me plant my garden on Mother’s Day.
We finally booked our first camping trip in Golden Gate Canyon in the beginning of June for one night followed up by running with Emma at the Mountain Goat Kids race. Emma got a small taste of the camping experience at one of two birthday parties we went to on Saturday. Happy Birthday Kai and Abby!
Yum- S’mores!
