Building Bonds

We packed up and said goodbye to AJ’s family last night as we headed back to Colorado early this morning. We cram in as much as we can when we are here hitting the beach, the pool, celebrating birthdays and enjoying each others company. Emma got to hold a sea slug, sand crab and frog. She got to ride a few waves, make some sandcastles, see a seaside storm with spectacular lightening, feed the turtles, dig for Coquinas and play endless games of tag with her cousins. We always leave hearts fulfilled and exhausted but thankful we had the time together no matter how fast it goes. As Emma gets older, the bonds she builds with her cousins and other family get stronger. But it also makes saying goodbye much harder.

We are home for a few days before we leave again to see my family to spend time in Lake Geneva, WI for the 4th of July. In between, Emma has swimming and climbing in the mornings and dance camp in the afternoons. We also will get to see longtime friends the Nickels who are coming to visit Colorado after moving to Wisconsin last August.

We will be doing much of the same in Lake Geneva crossing off items on the summer bucket list while enjoying beach time and creating wonderful memories. Emma will get to see her bestie Maggie after not seeing her since October too.

My latest piece for Colorado Parent on 8 Great Hikes for Kids in Colorado went live on the website and can be found in the July print edition as well. I’m really looking forward to the redesign of Adventure Projects- part of the REI Co-op family due to launch soon. There you will be able to find many of my articles geared towards camping, hiking, riding and running with kids. Stay tuned!

Adventure On,

Courtney
