Goodbye October, Hello November

November already…. Where did October go? Why is it still in the upper 70’s in Colorado?

We have been having a spooktacular time accomplishing our fall bucket list. From pumpkin patch visits to making a roast with veggies from the garden, everything we check off means more memories to look back on.

Emma had her first class party on Thursday. Last weekend we had a birthday party, Halloween party and carved pumpkins. Emma did a Goblin Run and we got the basement ready for playing when it is cold and snowy in the winter.

Our Halloween started low key at home. I was tempted to hit one of the typical pumpkin patches we usually visit since we hadn’t yet. But, I knew a long night was ahead of us. Plus, eight different patches in one season is enough I would say! We went to the library in the late afternoon for some spooky stories and craft time. We had just enough time to go home and change, put out the candy and teal pumpkin project treats and turn on the pumpkin candles before we were off to our neighborhood pre trick or treating get together.

After some food and drinks, we headed out for some candy. It was great to have most of the kiddos on the street going from house to house together! It was tough to keep up with them. The first couple houses Emma tried to explain she was dairy free. But, then it was holding her back from staying with the group. She stopped and was just happy with the candy she was given even if she couldn’t eat it. I’m hoping in all the rush and excitement she said thank you!

The Switch Witch came over night and replaced her candy with the Ice Age movie. We kept a few pieces she could have. Funny thing is she still hasn’t asked for any candy!

Yesterday, I started day one of my twenty four days of thankfulness posts. Emma is also getting in on the action too telling me things she is grateful for everyday. Stay tuned for a blog post in the next week about how even the smallest children can help give back to those who could use a pick me up.

I just sent off an article for ironman.com on Susan Haag who is racing her 100th iron distance event this weekend for the Child Tumor Foundation. No other assignments on the docket (this tends to be my slow time of year), but I am looking forward to meeting with a well established writing friend in a couple weeks about expanding my writing opportunities.

Not much on tap for this weekend- maybe a hike to see the last of the leaves before they are all gone. I’m OK with an empty calendar! We have some home projects to begin planning, and I have some holiday projects I would like to get started on before the holiday madness starts. I’m sewing with my friend Kathy again starting Thursday, so I am looking forward to that.

I start one month of hormonal testing today to hopefully finally figure out what is going on with me. With horrible sleeping, fatigue, moodiness etc., I am hoping this through testing gives me some much needed answers.

Adventure On,

Courtney
